DRONE’S-EYE VIEW: The under-construction Cresson Relief Route, a $61 million, 3-mile bypass, will veer west of Cresson. Traveling from Granbury, the 4-lane divided highway will swing one mile south of the US 377 and SH 171 intersection and will end one mile north of the same intersection. A bridge will carry motorists above the railroad tracks. The bypass is slated for completion in 2022.DAVID MONTESINO

Lightning strike

Firefighters rushed to reported explosion Tuesday evening west of Cresson. Lightning apparently sparked the fire from oil storage tanks off Highway 377, according to Fire Marshal Jeff Young. No injuries were reported. The explosion blew one of the tanks about 100 yards away, Young said.ROGER ENLOW
