Cecil William Todd, 82, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019. Service: 10:00 AM, Friday, August 30, 2019, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, officiated by Pastor Bill Sanders, Graveside service: 3:00 PM, Friday, August 30, 2019, Rose Hill Cemetery, Merkel, Texas, officiated by Brigadier General Ronald Harvell of the United States Air Force Chaplains and Pastor Ken Harvell, Visitation: 5:00 PM -7:00 PM, Thursday, August 29, 2019, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.

Cecil was born on July 29, 1937 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky to Stanley and Ethel Todd. He graduated from Carson Newman University with his Bachelor's degree. He received his Master's degree and Superintendent Certificate from Morehead State University and Abilene Christian University. He dedicated 30 years to public education as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent. He was Superintendent at Tolar ISD for 13 years.

Cecil received many honors and awards such as Mr. Kentucky Basketball, Two-time All-American basketball player, Army All-Star Basketball Team Captain, drafted by the St. Louis Hawks, Two-time Kentucky Basketball Coach of the Year, More-head State University Basketball Hall of Fame Member, Carson Newman Basketball Hall of Fame Member & Lifetime Achievement Award, and Order of the Kentucky Colonels.

Cecil was involved in his community and was a Hood County 4-H Leader, Co-Founder and Life Trustee of the Chris Ritcher, Joyce Nix and J.W. Holmes Memorial Scholarship Foundations (now known as the Tolar Memorial Scholarship Foundation), and Founder and Conservator of the Doug Hines Memorial Scholarship at Carson Newman University.

Cecil is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Kay Teaff Todd, and siblings: Lorinne Beisel, and Lucille Newcam.

Cecil is survived by his daughter: Tasha Sheehan, son-in-law: Byron Sheehan, grandsons: Talon Sheehan and Kadyn Sheehan, and siblings: Hazel Brown and Effie Belle Taylor.
