David Richards ‘Richard’ Darnell
On Jan. 2, 2019, Richard Darnell of Granbury passed from his mortal to his eternal life. He was 61 years old.
Richard was born on June 27, 1957 in Fort Worth to Weldon and Mary Darnell. He was brought up to enjoy the outdoors and spent many weekends and vacations traveling to numerous national and state parks, fishing and camping with his family. He joined Troop 400 of the Boy Scouts at 11 and attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 13, attended Philmont Scout Ranch at 14 and was a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow.
He graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth in 1975. He graduated from East Texas State University with a degree in Real Estate/Finance and a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He later became a Real Estate Appraiser and owned Darnell Appraisal Services for almost 30 years. He was an avid gambler and enjoyed time spent in Las Vegas and other casinos across the country. He and his brother, Sam, visited almost every main horse racing track in North America. Richard was a dog lover and treated his furry friends just like family, actually better.
At his request, there will not be a funeral service. He was cremated after donating his organs, as per his wishes. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Granbury Friends for Animals, 2885 Fall Creek Highway, Gran-bury 76049.
