Delbert "Tom" McKannan

Posted

Delbert "Tom" McKannan, 51, went to be with his Lord and Savior while visiting his father in Gillette, Wyoming on August 20, 2020. Tom was born to Delbert McKannan and Marjorie May Sandstorm in Cody, WY on March 5, 1969. He met his wife and love of his life, Christy Jerred McKannan in Gillette, WY and they were married before God and their family on March 6, 2004. Tom and Christy had a very special relationship full of fun, honor and Christ-like love. It was always a joy to be around them together. He strongly placed value on doing everyday tasks, especially so as long as he got to do them with Christy. People could just feel the love shining out around them and wanted to soak it up.

Their family grew December 11, 2003 when their oldest daughter, Marjorie McKannan was born. She is a very bright girl, just like her father, and they enjoyed building memories together on their fishing trips. Their second daughter, Lois McKannan, was born January 3, 2006. She has Toms sense of humor and they loved to play a custom game they created together called The Name Game. Family Game Night was Toms favorite night of the week and it got very competitive. He absolutely adored his family. They made their way to Granbury, Texas by 2007 and settled in.

Tom stayed busy always working with his hands. He had a passion for detailing anything with wheels or a motor. He made the time to spend with friends and had a heart for serving others. If he saw a need in someone, he immediately took action to ensure that need was met one way or another. Tom had a strong spiritual walk with Jesus and it kept him drawn to being very involved in service with the church and ministry. He led the men's bible study at his home church, Hope Community Church as well as ran the media and sound for Sunday service and Thursday ministry meetings often. One of everyone's favorites was the monthly big Saturday breakfast he cooked. Tom was an amazing cook and loved serving people that way too. It made him happy to make other people happy, period.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie May Sandstorm (May 1997) and his son, Rodney McKannan (2-9-95 to 7-15- 97). He is survived by his soulmate and wife, Christy Jerred McKannan; Daughters, Marjorie and Lois McKannan of Granbury; Elizabeth (Born 2-15-91) Gonzalez and husband Mateo of Fordyce, AR; Shaylee (Born 6-27-93) Tanner and husband Dylan of Navarre Beach, FL; Grandchildren, Mateo and Matias Gonzalez, as well as a new one on the way; Brothers, Michael Mike McKannan and Carl McKannan(wife Angela); Sister, Christina Christy Reynolds(husband Brad); In-laws, Dennis and LouAnn Jerred, Chad Jerred and Cheryl Stanley; 12 nieces and nephews; Multiple loving church families, grateful ministry co-members, respected co-workers, too many friends to count and so many forever touched souls.

For Donations towards his Wife and Children in need, there has been an account set up at First Financial Bank in Granbury, TX on Hwy 144.

A Celebration of Life Tribute will be held at 11am at Hope Community Church, 3206 Hwy 377 W in Granbury, Texas on November 21, 2020. We will eat and fellowship in his honor as it was one of his favorite ways to spend his time. We invite all who have been touched by Tom to come share your experience with us as we share ours. Thank you, Tom, for your heart and how you helped shape part of this world with it. You will be missed greatly here but we find joy in the peace you have found now as God has called you Home. Until we meet again, We Love You.
