Gerald Self

Gerald Self, 77, of Granbury, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time, Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury. Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 2, 2020, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury.

Gerald was born on November 14, 1942 in Wilson, North Carolina to Milton and Helen Self. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a journeyman electrician and he was known for his strong work ethic.

Gerald married Lynda Upchurch on November 14, 1974 in Durham, North Carolina. He cherished time spent with his family. He loved gardening, fishing, and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson: Joshua Merrick.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife: Lynda Self of Granbury, children: Denise Rhoades and Curtis of Llano, Texas and Melissa Holt and Mariah of Fort Worth, grandchildren: Joey Merrick and wife Victoria, and Cody Merrick, greatgrandchildren: Bristol Merrick and Ira Jo Merrick, sister: Josephine Lewter of Durham, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
