Katherine Jean Bingham Best

Katherine (Kitty) Best was born in McCamey, Texas to Sam Houston and Lola Sutherlan Bingham on June 8, 1929. From the age of three until nine she lived in Aspermont, Texas. She moved with her family to Phoenix, Arizona where she lived until she was a junior in high school. After returning to Texas, she graduated from Mexia High School, and from Baylor University. She was married on April 14, 1951 to Jim K. Best. While Jim was in the U.S. Navy, they lived in San Diego, California and Norfolk, Virginia. At the end of Jim's enlistment, they moved to Granbury, Texas where Jim taught at Granbury High School. Mrs. Best served for over thirty years as secretary at First Baptist Church of Granbury, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim of 54 years, her son Rusty, and great-grandson Cooper.

She is survived by sons Gary and wife Kathy, Daughter-in-Law Rhonda, Charles and his wife Diane; five grandchildren: Brian Best and wife Tami, Dr. Jennifer Strong; Brenda and husband Clint Kubiak; Angela and husband Brett; and Cameron Best. Also eight great grandchildren: Blake Best, Brenna Williams, Callie and Brent Kubiak, Henlea and Lindyn Best, Caleb and Daniel Hardin, along with several nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be from 12 noon to 8 pm on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Funeral service 10 am, Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Granbury with graveside services following at 3 pm. at Bonner Cemetery in Fairfield, TX.
