Margielou “Maggie” Tansill

Margielou “Maggie” Tansill of Granbury, 96, passed away on November 16, 2018.

Maggie was born on July 1, 1922, in Chicago, IL to George & Louise Meinig. She married Robert Tansill on May 5, 1945. They had a daughter Bonnie and son Bob and lived in downtown Chicago until 1964 when they moved to Alden, IL. They opened a bird hunting club and 2nd home resort, Shag-bark, and ran it until they moved to Ojai, CA in 1976.

Being a creative person, Maggie found a use for the many bird feathers at her disposal to fashion hat bands, ties and many other unique items. She and her husband expanded the business and started Hickory Valley Originals.

In 2002 they moved to Fort Worth, TX to be close to family, and moved to Granbury in 2016 where Bonnie & Bob had moved. Family was everything to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, but is survived by Bonnie Tansill Holmes, Bob Tansill, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of a formal memorial service, the family will celebrate her life on Thanksgiving, filled with Mitch Miller music and lots of memories.
