Mary Evelyn Day, 97, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020.
She was born August 3, 1922 to her parents, Robert and Cecile Sledge in Hood County.
Mary was an only child and she grew up in the Fall Creek Community. She graduated from Granbury High School in 1939 at the age of 16.
Mary worked for International Business Machines Corporation for seven years before she met and married Bill Day on December 18, 1953. In 1956, they started the Day Awning Company and it was a successful business for 35 years.
On April 9, 2013, Mary moved to The Courtyards at Lake Granbury and that was her home until she passed away on Sunday.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Wilburn E. (Bill) Day in 1997.
Mary is survived by a special cousin Dorrace Hubbard, a special niece, Shirley Tony and by the entire loving Matlock family.
Viewing will be from 10am. to 6pm. Friday, May 15, 2020 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
Graveside services will be held 2pm. Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Fall Creek Cemetery with Rev. Rudy Rudewick officiating.
