Long-time Granbury resident, Nelda Wright, passed away October 23rd in Edmond, Oklahoma, where she had been living for the past year with her loving grandson Jonathan Clark and his family.

Nelda was born Nelda Mae Huckabay in Dimmitt, Castro Co., Texas, on November 30th, 1929. Her father, BB Huckabay was a Baptist preacher, and as a result, Nelda moved often while growing up. After graduating from high school in Stephenville, she married and moved to Sundown, Texas where she was a member of the Sundown First Baptist Church, and worked many years at the Sundown First National Bank, while also raising two sons, Danny & Bryan Clark.

Nelda married Sonny (Arlie Joe) Wright in 1965, and moved to Granbury in the mid-70s along with her mom, Bessie Huckabay. They immediately fell in love with their new community, became active members of Granbury First Baptist, and formed many lasting friendships.

After Sonny passed away in 1989, Nelda worked for several years as the bookkeeper for the Hood County Senior Center. Before moving to Oklahoma in November of 2019, Nelda lived in The Oaks Assisted Living Community in Granbury.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sonny, and her son, Danny Wayne Clark, also an active member of Granbury First Baptist. Surviving are her sister Constance Faye & Faye's daughter Lisa Moore, presently living in Arizona; her youngest son, Bryan Clark and his wife Kristina, living in Ajijic, Mexico; grandson Jonathan Clark and spouse Jaime Clark, along with great-granddaughter's Adin and Kaitlyn all of Oklahoma; granddaughter Riki Clark also of Oklahoma; Sonny's daughter Glenda Wright along with her daughter Sherisa Smith, both of Lubbock, & their families.
