Wednesday, March 13, 2019

Thomas Stokely Hutchinson of Tolar passed away on Feb. 25, 2019. He was born to Seldon S. Hutchinson and Naomilea F. Hutchinson in Dallas, TX on Dec. 6, 1942. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and attended Tarleton State. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tolar, but, in recent years attended church with his wife at The Tolar Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ann Hutchinson.

Tom and his family were long time members of the Tolar community. Through the years he owned an ag supply, raised livestock and hay, and worked for the First National Bank of Granbury. Tom was most proud of his faith and his family, especially his grandkids. He was patient and generous to a fault. He rarely spoke a word in anger and had a unique sense of humor he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was a master of cooking bacon, and, to his family, fresh stove popped popcorn will never be the same. He gave one of the best hugs ever. He loved to garden, cook, and fish. Some of his family’s fondest memories of him revolve around a fishing pole and a pond. He taught his children and grandchildren many valuable life lessons, for which he will be remembered.

Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Hutchinson. He is also survived by his children, Leann Jackson and husband, Jeff of Roanoke Louisiana; Phyllis Taylor and husband Craig of Robinson, Texas; and Scott Hutchinson and wife Jenifer of Aquilla, TX. He has six grandchildren: Delaney Jackson, Lake Charles, LA; Tori Taylor, College Station, TX; Ty Taylor, Robinson, TX; Mackenzie Jackson, Roanoke, LA; Sayre Hutchinson and Briley Hutchinson, Aquilla, TX.

A memorial service is planned in coordination with Tolar Church of Christ, Wiley Funeral Home, and Mt. Pleasant Cemetery for April 20. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Leukemia Society of America, Foster’s Home for Children, or Tolar Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
