Pecan will soon elect three new members to its board of directors as well as make decisions about our community. Election and annual meeting day come Saturday, March 5 at 11 a.m. in the PAC gym.

Residents have received paper ballots in their mailboxes, and electronic voting is now open with instructions having been sent via email. Electronic voting must be complete by noon on Friday, March 4, and paper ballots returned/received by 9 a.m. on election day. All election materials included in the ballot are also available for review at Pecan’s website: www.ppoaweb.com.

Vying for a board seat are Jay Arrington, Nathan Carriker, Jamison Drake, Larry Johnson, Jennifer Lancaster, Venisa McLaughlin, Thomas Mead, Steve Perry and Bill Reilly.

Best wishes to all of these candidates, and gratitude goes to them for their willingness to serve our community.

HIGH FLYING

Chapter 983 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) at the Pecan Plantation Airfield will be holding a Young Eagles Fly-in for youth ages eight to 17 years old. WELL DONE

Many thanks to all Pecaners who donated blood at our neighborhood blood drive last week. The Red Cross’s goal of 59 units was surpassed with 80 units collected. Another blood drive date is on the calendar for Wednesday, May 4.

AWARDS GIVEN

Pecan Plantation’s Volunteer Fire Department recently lauded several members of the group for outstanding service to our community. Congratulations go to Craig McAllister on receiving the Chief’s Award, to Dawson Perry who was named Firefighter of the Year, and Dave Paxton who is the Responder of the Year as well as being named the chief of Pecan’s VFD. Thank you to these gentlemen for their service to our community.

WOMAN’S CLUB

The Pecan Plantation Woman’s Club is in need of table hostesses for its monthly meetings held on the third Thursday of the month at the Pecan clubhouse. These ladies would help guests and new members find a table spot and get to know the PPWC members seated around them. Volunteers may contact Adalia Provance at 817-243-7632.

In addition to its next general meeting happening Thursday, March 17, the PPWC also has Saturday, March 26 on the calendar for the annual “Boot Scootin’ Ropin’ in the Fun” evening. More details to come as this fundraiser draws closer.

SYMPATHY

Our deepest sympathy goes to the family of former Pecan resident Pat Neeley who passed away Feb. 1.
