Posted

PECAN PLANTATION BITS

A Mississippi native who has been a Texas transplant for 28 years, Diane Long is a wife, mother, and English teacher who has written Pecan Plantation Bits for 15 years cumulatively. She spends her time both gathering neighborhood news and teaching students how to avoid passive voice.

Pecan’s Fall Bazaar (formerly the Pecan Arts and Crafts Fair) will happen on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the PAC and on its surrounding grounds. Pecan’s gates will be open that day for the public to attend the bazaar. The event is hosted by the Volunteer Fire Department/Emergency Medical Auxiliary, and every penny raised during the day will benefit our community’s emergency volunteers.

The handiwork of artists, artisans, crafters and woodworkers will be on full display and for sale, along with a variety of specialty foods and services offered by more than sixty-five vendors. Pecan’s resident wildlife photographer and auxiliary member Karen Gomez will be present with a fresh collection of wildlife greeting cards, including Christmas cards for 2022.

The Auxiliary will offer several raffle prizes and baskets with drawings happening throughout the day. The bazaar is a family friendly event where children may participate in activities conducted by Pecan Plantation volunteer firefighters, as well as an exhibit comprised of several emergency vehicles and a fire truck.

Furthermore, the Auxiliary will be selling chicken sandwiches, chips, and drinks in the PAC kitchen area at lunch time.

Cowtown Gold & Silver will be on site to buy scrap gold, silver, and other precious metals and will award the VFD/EMS ten percent of the amount of gold and silver purchased.

For more information on the event, please contact bazaar chair Vicki Paxton at 615-394-5058 or Melody Boro at 678-371-5367.
