GRANBURY ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS

Whitney Knieper grew up in and around the real estate industry and has had her license for 12-plus years. She recently earned her broker’s license and is a broker at Knieper Realty. Whitney is the 2023 President of the Granbury Association of REALTORS®.  She holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University. Go Frogs!

The Granbury Association of REALTORS® is dedicated to serving this community.  I’d like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the initiatives/projects we have been/are involved in. We have many committees here at GAR, but the two I’d like to focus on are our Public Relations and Special Events committees.

These two groups of Realtors® and affiliates coordinate many community service projects throughout the year. Last year the PR initiatives were, Shoes of Kids in which our association purchased 127 pairs of shoes for the Ranchos Brazos Community Center kids; Senior Blessing Bags, which included personal hygiene goods, socks, blankets, etc. for 81 seniors living at Quail Ridge and our Annual Food Drive where the association donated 10,000 pounds of food to six (6) local food banks.

For nearly 40 years, the Granbury Association of Realtors® Special Events committee has planned and hosted a fundraising event for the Hood County Children’s Charity Fund. This charity holds a special place in the heart of Granbury Realtors®, as the fund was created and built by our members to help those in need. Giving back to the community matters, and HCCCF helps hundreds of kids in Hood County every year. The charity has built closets in most of the schools in the area, providing clothes, shoes and toiletries to those less fortunate. All the programs the charity hosts cost money, and we’re here to help them raise funds to help our local children. All donations stay in Hood County and the board is 100% volunteer.

For many years, the annual fundraiser was a golf tournament. A few years ago, we decided to change things up a bit and breathe new life back into the event and we hosted our first Casino Night benefiting the HCCCF.

Our first year, 2021 Casino Night, had some “learning opportunities” but was an all-around success. This event was well attended and featured food, live and silent auctions, gaming tables, and more. We learned some things and forged ahead with 2022’s Speakeasy Casino Night, featuring a Roaring 20’s vibe with heavy hors d’oeuvres, specialty drinks, gaming tables, and big winners! These two nights were very successful, raising $26,253 and $18,803 respectively.

That brings us to 2023! GAR is hosting its 3rd Annual Casino Night on March 3, 2023, at Pecan Plantation’s Clubhouse. This year’s theme is VIVA LAS VEGAS! The event will include live music, silent auction, buffet dinner, gaming tables and slot machines, and more. Whether you come as a Las Vegas tourist, an Elvis Impersonator, or just as you are, this is going to be a blast!

Individual tickets are $75. As a thank-you to teachers and first responders, we are offering discounted tickets at $50! Sponsorships are available for dining tables, casino games, and slot machines. If you and your family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, or whoever are looking for a fun night on the town for a good cause, we’d love to have you attend! For details and tickets visit www.GARSpecialEvent.com online. For questions, you can reach out to the GAR office at 817-326-2530.

Join the Granbury Association of REALTORS® in giving to the Hood Country Children’s Charity Fund. It’s for the kids! And it will be a lot of fun!
