When Disneyland opened in 1955, it’s likely no one, other than maybe Walt himself, dreamed that theme parks would become the new destination travel experience for families around the world. Now there are Disney Parks & Resorts around the world in Japan, China, France, and more. Universal Studios opened its first theme park in California in 1964. Then Walt Disney World opened in Florida 1971, followed by Universal Orlando in 1990.

Universal Parks & Resorts announces a new theme park in Frisco. The park will include a lush green landscape with immersive-themed lands designed for young children and families — with additional space for future expansion. Until now, theme parks for both Universal and Disney have been on the west coast in California and the east coast in Florida. This will be the first theme park expansion from one of these two giants to come to Texas. This new destination will be 97 acres located about 30 miles north of Dallas. How does 97 acres compare to other theme park destinations? The original Disneyland theme park is only 85 acres. Although an opening date has not been announced for this new park, Universal has a new experience that just opened: Super Nintendo World!

Universal Parks & Resorts Super Nintendo World is now open in Universal Studios Hollywood California. Get ready to experience Mario Kart like never before! Unlock interactive play with your power-up band. Meet Mario and friends face to face and step right into familiar locations and environments from the mushroom kingdom. Dine at Toadstool Cafe, and shop at the 1-Up Factory.

Walt Disney World has new attractions as well, including the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster at EPCOT, Tron Light-cycle roller coaster at Magic Kingdom, and a new restaurant in Toy Story Land ‘Round Up Rodeo BBQ’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The classic Splash Mountain ride themed around the controversial animated movie “Song of the South” is being reimagined into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This update is happening at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Disneyland adds new Quantumania ‘Antman and the Wasp’ experiences to California Adventure Park at Avengers Campus.

Disneyland is celebrating Disney100. The Walt Disney Company marks its 100th anniversary this year, and Disneyland will commemorate this milestone with new experiences and entertainment throughout the year.

These destinations continue to grow and expand. It’s no wonder that many families and travelers continue to visit year after year. There’s always something new!
