What would you like to know about the Brazos River Authority?

Posted

BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY

Judi Pierce has been the public information officer for the Brazos River Authority for 20 years. Her office is in Waco.

Have you ever wondered why there are stumps in the lake?  Or, who determines when the gates are opened or closed at the Granbury dam?  Who do you ask?

The Brazos River Authority managers are now available to answer your questions during regularly held virtual town hall meetings scheduled every other month during a weekday lunch hour.  Anyone can click in while they eat their lunch to ask questions and learn more about the BRA, the lakes and other BRA projects and services.

The Brown Bag on the Brazos are virtual public meetings that began last spring to share insights on BRA projects and answer questions from the public.

Each Brown Bag is held a few days following a BRA Board of Directors meeting and is hosted by David Collinsworth, BRA General Manager/CEO, who shares meeting highlights and directs the question-and-answer session.

BRA management also joins the meetings to share updates from topics including Brazos River water supply to construction projects.  Each meeting is wrapped up with an opportunity for the public to ask their questions.

Now the BRA is putting out a call for topics.

If there is an issue you'd like to hear discussed during a Brown Bag on the Brazos, let us know by emailing information@brazos.org.

Topic suggestions could range from:

  • what lakeside homeowners need to know to live near a water supply reservoir,
  • how does a wastewater treatment plant work,
  • what invasive species live in the Brazos basin, or
  • why can't you throw leaves and lawn cuttings in the lake?

Or maybe you just want to ask your own questions.

Great!  Send us your thoughts and concerns.

The last Brown Bag on the Brazos event for 2021 is scheduled for Dec. 2 from noon to 1 p.m.  Each meeting is held via Microsoft Teams Broadcast. Anyone can join a meeting from a computer or smartphone via a link published the week before the meeting on the BRA website and social media pages.

Clicking the link will open a web page where you'll see two choices: Download the Windows app or Join on the Web instead. You'll simply enter your name, choose your audio and video settings, and click Join Now.

All previous Brown Bag on the Brazos meetings are recorded and available to watch in full at www.brazos.org/BrownBag. Previous questions and answers are also available in transcript form.  We hope you'll join us for the next Brown Bag on the Brazos on Dec. 2 at noon.  For more information, contact us at information@brazos.org or call 888-922-6272.
