Name game?

Posted

Sometimes folks don't know how to pronounce some words or names correctly. Sometimes "correctly" means how a name has been pronounced for years.

In Hood County there are two road/area names that have been pronounced one way for years and years and years. Mambrino and Neri are names that I was taught gently(?) how to pronounce 46 years ago when I married into a Hood County family that had been here since 1860.

Please say Neri like "Knee Rye." No matter how GPS or Siri say it ... Mambrino has a long "i" and sounds like "brine" (salty water) not "breeeno."

Say those names right and the old folks in our county will appreciate it!
