Protect your kids and save a life on May 1

Posted

If we’ve learned one thing since the beginning of the pandemic, it is that there is nothing more important than protecting everyone’s health and safety. Last May, our annual Water Safety Awareness Day and 50th Anniversary Celebration were canceled due to the COVID restrictions.

With the health and safety of our community and vendors in mind, we will not be able to offer our full interactive event this year. But that doesn’t make the health and safety of your family less important to us.

Though we cannot offer our regular Water Safety Awareness Day, we still plan to help you maintain your family’s health and safety and aid the Hood County community by hosting a drive-through event!

On Saturday, May 1, the BRA is inviting families with children to drive up to our local office on Mambrino Hwy. to pick up a FREE kid’s life jacket while supplies last. We’ll be giving away fun water safety information and goody bags to your children in a socially-distanced manner as well.

You won’t have to leave your car. Simply drive up, tell us how much your child weighs, and you’ll drive out with a brand new, free life jacket for your child – and lots of great fun for the kids.

At the same time, we’re also providing you with an opportunity to save a life in your community! During COVID restrictions, health agencies throughout the nation experienced a shortage of blood and plasma products. Your donation to Carter BloodCare can save several lives!

Appointments to donate can be made in advance so that there is no waiting. Donations will be made in one of Carter BloodCare’s three buses by masked professionals in a socially distanced environment. To sweeten the deal, Carter BloodCare is providing gift certificates for a free queso from Chuy’s while supplies last. To schedule a time to donate, call 800-366-2834.

While you’re at our lakeside office, pull over and park at Observation Point so the kids can enjoy a great view of the DeCordova Bend Dam, the structure that creates Lake Granbury!
