Realtors® — not just about selling homes

KNIEPER REAL ESTATE

Pam Knieper, Broker/Owner of Knieper Real Estate, is and has been the #1 Top Producer for more than 15 years in Hood County and running. She is known as the Waterfront Expert and the Authority on Real Estate.

You may have noticed the word REALTOR® is trademarked.  Not all Real Estate Agents are REALTORS® and with that trademarked designation comes more than just the license to sell Real Estate, there is also a very strict and stringently enforced Code of Ethics.  It is a long and detailed document but today I want to share a small portion its Preamble.

“Under all is the land. Upon its wise utilization and widely allocated ownership depend the survival and growth of free institutions and of our civilization. REALTORS® should recognize that the interests of the nation and its citizens require the highest and best use of the land and the widest distribution of land ownership. They require the creation of adequate housing, the building of functioning cities, the development of productive industries and farms, and the preservation of a healthful environment.

Such interests impose obligations beyond those of ordinary commerce. They impose grave social responsibility and a patriotic duty to which REALTORS® should dedicate themselves, and for which they should be diligent in preparing themselves.

According to the National Association of REALTORS® 67% of REALTORS® nationwide volunteer in their community monthly and 85% say that community involvement is an important part of their business plan.

Locally, our Granbury Association of REALTORS® (GAR) has a long, proud history of investing in our community.  Long before there was a Hood County Children’s Charity Fund (HCCCF), agents in Granbury recognized a need and started the Coats for Kids Golf Tournament. It was a huge success and an annual event for many years.  Since, our local association has remained steadfast in giving back to our community, most recently raising over $27,000 for the HCCCF at a benefit event.

Our local association also sponsors an annual food drive in October and last year Granbury REALTORS® distributed over 16,000 pounds of food to seven local food banks.

The Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee (TREPAC) advocates on behalf of private property owners to protect private property rights. TREPAC has spent millions of dollars successfully promoting issues such as Amending the Constitution to Ban Real Estate Transfer Taxes (Prop 1) and enacting legislation (HB2083) that requires residential and commercial property appraisers adhere to “generally accepted appraisal methods and techniques.” This helps property owners like you fight unfair and unreasonable tax appraisals. So far this year Granbury REALTORS® have invested over $50,000 in TREPAC, one more way we continue to invest in our community.

To quote Denise Huber, AE, for the Granbury Association of REALTORS®, “Our Realtors are very involved. Every year our contributions to the HCCCF, Food Drive, and TREPAC increase substantially. Realtors contribute by showing actions to support our community and not just by selling real estate. “

Selling real estate is our profession, but I am proud to say that we, Granbury REALTORS®, are also committed to doing our part in insuring Granbury continues to thrive and be the amazing community we all call home.  If you have questions about this article or if you plan to buy or sell real estate in the near future, please give us a call at 817-219-0456 or visit us online at www.WeSellGranbury.com
