Boys golf wins in Georgetown, Lady Pirates earn silver in Burleson

Both the Granbury boys and girls golf teams had strong finishes in competitions over the weekend.

At the Halloween in the Hill Country Classic held at White Wing Golf Course in Georgetown, the Pirate Purple team took first place with a combined team score of 311-297-608.

Ty Holbrook finished second individually, shooting a 74-74-148. Christian Keto was close behind in a tie for third with a 75-76-151. Dustin Anderson’s 80-72-152 and Canyon Winters’ 82-75-157 rounded out the purple scores.

On the Pirate gold team, Jay Shero shot 73-86-159, Sam Shade fired a 81-79-160, Jake Piland shot 79-83-162 and Landon Grizzell finished with an 82-89-171.


The Granbury girls varsity competed at the North Texas 2-Step, held at Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie.

Landree Chiles and Lyndee Chiles both shot 169 to lead Granbury Purple. Landree shot 80-80-169, while Lyn-dee shot 83-86-169. Rylee Rinehart and Morgan Hansen shot identical rounds of 85-92-177, and Taylor Lawrence completed the roster with a 94-92-186.

The Purple team’s combined score of 342-350-692 was good for fourth place.

On the gold team, Abbey Griffin led the way with a 90-91-181. Kaleigh Harrison shot 96-96-192, Courtney Gilley shot 101-100-201 and McKenzie Gunter added a 104-104-208.

The junior varsity competed in the Burleson Centennial Invitational and finished in second. Logan Eagle shot 96 to earn silver individually, Lily Myers shot 106, Madison Kirk shot 107 and Whitney Gilley finished with a 111.

The Lady Pirate JV’s score of 420 was 13 shots behind Weatherford’s combined score of 407 and seven shots ahead of third place Waxahachie’s 427.
