The Granbury Pirates and Lady Pirates both suffered losses at home to Mansfield Timberview Tuesday.
The Pirates went down 68-48 after being tied at 17 through one quarter. Mikey Withey led Granbury with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Branden Hunt added 10 points, McLain Golba had eight points, four rebounds and three assists and Gage Molinari finished with six points and five assists.
Granbury sat at 1-7 in District 5-5A after the loss.
The Lady Pirates lost 50- 38, slipping to 3-7 in District 5-5A. Gentry Garner led the Lady Pirates with 10 points.
PLAYOFF PICTURE
The Lady Pirates are just one game out of the fourth and final playoff spot in the district.The top three teams in the District 5-5A girls standings have separated themselves from the pack, but there’s a four-way battle for the fourth spot.
Everman owns the tiebreaker over the Lady Pirates, having swept Granbury this season. Granbury went 2-0 against Burleson and owns that tiebreaker.
The Lady Pirates lost their first game against Burleson Centennial, and played Centennial on the road Friday. Winning that game would muck up the race for the fourth seed in Granbury’s favor.
The Lady Pirates needed to beat Centennial Friday and take care of business later on against Arlington Seguin.
That would put Granbury at five district wins. The Lady Pirates played Crowley tough, and could steal a win in that game to really help themselves.
Granbury also needs Everman to stay put at four or five wins to have a chance at a postseason berth.
Granbury will host Crowley Tuesday, with the girls getting started at 6:30 p.m.
