Lady Indians record 24 steals in blowout win
The Lipan Lady Indians continued their run through District 18-1A with a 78-16 win over Rising Star Tuesday.
Lipan, ranked No. 4 in Class 1A, led 19-4 after one quarter and 36-11 at the half. The Lady Indians shut out Rising Star 15-0 in the third quarter before putting up 27 points in the fourth.
Four Lady Indians scored in double figures. Lynsey Little and Maggie Peacock each had 14 points, while Kaylee Little and Taylor Clark both had 11.
Marti Seymour and Dally Coulter both added eight, Trinity Benitez scored six, Lili Cogdill had four and Taylor Grove finished with two.
Grove led the Lady Indians with seven rebounds. Lynsey Little had a team-high four assists and five steals.
Lipan, in a typically dominant defensive performance, had 24 steals as a team and forced Rising Star into 35 turnovers. Peacock had four steals, while Seymour, Cog-dill, Grove and Clark all had three.
The Lady Indians were 21-3 and held a 5-0 district record after the win, but had a marquee matchup Friday night against Class 1A No. 3 Huckabay. Check hcnews.com for results from that game.
