Lady Pirate soccer still unbeaten

The Granbury Lady Pirate soccer team still has yet to drop a match this season after taking home the Aledo Tournament championship last weekend.

The Lady Pirates rolled over Arlington Heights in the championship game, winning 3-0. Raegan Brown scored two goals and Ashley Hurst added another. Assists were by Laynee Pence and Morgan Tatum.

Granbury opened up by beating Aledo Black 3-2 behind goals from Pence, Miriam Espinoza and Maddie White. Espinoza had two assists in the match, with Hurst providing the other.

The Lady Pirates then won in a shootout over Aledo Orange after tying 2-2 in regulation. Espinoza and Brown scored the regulation goals, and Espinoza and Alyssa Gomez had the assists.

Shootout goals were scored by Malakye Harris, Brown and Pence. Sophomore keeper Caylin Damron stopped three penalty kicks.

Brown was named the Tournament MVP.

Granbury is 8-0-0 on the season. The Lady Pirates are off until Tuesday, when they will host Weatherford at 7 p.m.
