Lady Pirates eye playoff berth

The Granbury Lady Pirates are in the thick of the volleyball playoff race with a 2-4 district record, good enough for third place. The top four teams advance.

Granbury played at Brewer last night and has three games left, starting today at Azle at 1 p.m. The Lady Pirates’ final two regular season games are at home - Wichita Falls High Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and Azle Friday at 5:30 p.m.

District leaders are Aledo and Wichita Falls Rider. Aledo defeated the Lady Pirates Tuesday night 25-16, 25-14, 25-20.

Ellie Alexander led Granbury with five kills and four blocks, and had 12 digs.

Kylie Hagan and Gracie Nichols had four kills each. Nichols also shined with three aces.

Kaitlyn McCabe led the team with 14 digs.

Aledo defeated the Granbury JV 14-25, 25-22, 25-16.

The Granbury freshman Purple won 25-23, 25-14, and the Granbury freshman Gold won 26-24, 23-25, 25-23.
