The Granbury Lady Pirate soccer team honored its players at a banquet last week.

Juniors Raegan Brown and Miriam Espinosa earned Co-Most Valuable Player awards from head coach David Winkleman. Both Brown and Espinosa were First Team All-District 5-5A, and Espinosa was the district’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Junior goalie Macie Blohowiak and junior defender Laynee Pence were named Defensive Co-Players of the Year for the team, and both were also First Team All-District selections.

Offensive Co-Players of the Year for the Lady Pirates were juniors Alyssa Gomez and Morgan Tatum, who were both First Team All-District.

The Fighting Heart Award was shared by junior Emrey Carey and freshman Malakye Harris. Carey and Harris were both Second Team All-District selections.

The Lady Pirates made it two rounds deep in the postseason before being eliminated by Grapevine. Granbury finished third in district play, and will return the majority of its starting lineup next season.
