Lady Pirates shut out Timberview
Granbury softball extended its winning streak to four games with a 3-0 victory at Mansfield Timberview Tuesday.
Kelby Been and Alison Cooper combined in the circle to hold Timberview to four hits. Cooper struck out 11 batters in her five innings of work.
Granbury didn’t score until the fourth inning, when Brianna Venable led off with a solo home run to give the Lady Pirates a 1-0 lead. In the fifth inning, singles from Rachel McWilliams, Taryn Matthews and Lani Hickey manufactured another run.
The Lady Pirates would tack on another insurance run in the top of the seventh, when Cooper doubled to score McWilliams.
The win completed the season sweep of Timberview for Granbury, which won the first meeting between the schools 4-2 in February.
The Lady Pirates (7-1 District 5-5A) had a rematch with Burleson Centennial Friday night at home. Granbury won the first game between the two schools 8-1.
On Tuesday, the Lady Pirates will travel to Crowley for a game that starts at 6 p.m.
