Lady Rattlers lose, still looking for district win

Tuesday, January 8, 2019

The Tolar Lady Rattlers lost a close game to Jacksboro 48-39 Friday at home.

Tolar trailed for much of the game, but a Grace Jones three-pointer with 2:15 left in the third quarter gave the Lady Rattlers their first lead since midway through the second quarter.

Jacksboro answered with a three-pointer of its own, however, and the Lady Rattlers trailed 37-33 heading into the fourth quarter.

Aubrie Sibley led Tolar with 12 points, including two second-quarter three-pointers. Jones scored nine points, Hope Grivette hit one basket in each quarter for eight points, Baili Deaver finished with four and Kaitlyn Morphew, Shaely Nunley and Haylee Burt each scored two.

Tolar’s press defense was effective, especially in the first half. Jacksboro had several turnovers trying to break the press with long passes over the middle.

The Lady Rattlers (0-5 in District 7-3A) hosted Boyd Tuesday and will travel to Millsap for a 6:15 tip Friday.
