No. 5 Lindsay big test for Rattlers Friday

Posted

Tolar’s big-play offense will be put to the test Friday against fifth-ranked Lindsay.

The area (second-round) Class 2A playoff kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Castleberry High School’s W.O. Barnes Memorial Stadium in Fort Worth River Oaks.

“We will have to capitalize on scoring opportunities. They are not giving up many points on the year,” Tolar Head Coach Jeremy Mullins said.

The Knights are 10-0 and brimming with confidence, the coach said. They conquered Wolfe City 48-6 in bidistrict last week and appear to have most starters back from last year’s 9-3 area finalist team.

“They fly around well on both sides of the ball,” Mullins said. “Defensively they are quick up front and athletic on the back end.”

The Knights also enjoy an explosive offense.

“They’re really solid across the board at the skill positions,” Mullins said. “They have big-play potential on offense that we will have to limit.”

Tolar survived a 45-42 shootout with Dawson in bidistrict last Thursday. Tolar sophomore quarterback Jackson LeCluyse starred with six passing touchdowns, and the Rattler defense had a spectacular game-winning goal-line stand in the waning seconds before enjoying a wild celebration.

The Rattlers always watch the game film to review the good plays and see areas that need improvement.

“It was fun on Friday to get to watch that ending again with the guys,” Mullins said.

Friday’s playoff tickets must be purchased online. All tickets are $5. The link can be found on the Tolar ISD Athletic web page.
