Not missing a step

The Lipan Lady Indians cross country team has been making an impression on the running world.

The girls won four meets this fall and were runner-up in the other four.

The girls won meets in Brownwood, Dublin, Brock and their own in Lipan, and were runner-up in the four others against larger schools.

They’ve cracked the top 10 in Class 2A (currently ranked seventh) – not too shabby considering Lipan was a 1A school last year.

Lipan has sights set on a fourth straight trip to state. Lipan’s best finish is seventh.

“We have tougher competition, but with our senior leadership we still have a chance to compete well at state,” Lipan Cross Country head coach Misty Little said.

The district meet is Wednesday in Poolville where the top two teams and 10 individuals advance to regional Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Jesse Owens Memorial Athletic Sports Complex in Dallas.

From there the top three teams and 10 individuals quality for state Nov. 23-24 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

The Lipan girls team consists of:

Senior Maggie Peacock

Freshman Taylor Branson

Freshman Ashlyn Clark

Senior Kaylee Little

Sophomore Lynsey Little

Senior Marti Seymour

Junior Emma Moran

Senior Lili Cogdill

Lipan boys placing in the recent Dublin meet were Cole Reynolds (12th), Tyson Tarpley (13th), Colton Moore (19th) and Blake Childers (27th).
