Pecaners take a bite into Cupcake Camp

Calling all “want to be bakers” as Cupcake Camp comes to Pecan Plantation next Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the Pecan Activities Center (PAC) from 10 to 11 a.m. with instructors Donna Bullis and Li Cross leading the event.

All supplies are provided with payment of registration fee, and class size is limited. Sign up for this event by calling the PAC front desk: 817-573-7952.

WOMAN’S CLUB

The Pecan Plantation Woman’s Club is gearing up for a new meeting year starting in September, and memberships are being accepted now. Submitting paperwork and paying dues by Aug. 1 will guarantee ladies’ inclusion in the group’s yearbook.

To join the PPWC or renew a membership, ladies may visit www.myppwc.com and then choose the join/renew membership tab. The PPWC is also on Facebook, and ladies are invited to friend the page to keep up with events and activities.

GOOD FOOD

Top Nosh is happy to announce that appetizer and bar service in the Brazos Room began last week. Email messages with a full menu were sent to Pecan members.

Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday 4 to 9 p.m.; closed on Sunday and Monday.

Seating is limited to 50 percent, and reservations are not currently being taken. Members are asked to wear face coverings until seated at their table.

CAMP TIME

Two sessions of golf, tennis and swim camp remain for summer 2020.

The penultimate week happens next Tuesday through Friday, and the final meetings will be Aug. 4-7.

The day runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with first-day registration in the tennis shop. Activities are for participants ages 6 and over who should bring swim gear each day. Tennis racquets and golf clubs are welcome but will be provided if needed.

TWINKLE TOES

An enchanted summer dance camp for performers age 3 to 6 is scheduled for Aug. 3-4 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the PAC.

Staff members from Dance Dreams Academy will facilitate the two-day event in which young ladies will enjoy masquerading as princesses, as well as focusing on ballet and tap dancing techniques. Crafts and music will complete the experience.

PICKLEBALL NEWS

Pecaners continue to enjoy pickleball play in the PAC gym on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings, as well as outdoors on the three new courts adjacent to the walking track.

In addition, the Pickleball Association is looking for volunteers to serve on a variety of committees; interested folks may leave contact information at the PAC registration desk.

Finally, the Pickleball Association congratulates Tiffani and Sean Arrington on being the featured pickleball players of the month.

GOLF DATES

The Ladies’ Golf Association will enjoy ABCD low gross and low net on Tuesday, and the Men’s Golf Association will host 4 man “waltz across Texas” play on Thursday. Contact the golf pro shop to participate: 817-573-2645.

Furthermore, the LGA is looking towards its member/ guest tournament in September, and Denise Jacques and her committee are currently planning a wonderful event.

If folks have a favorite hole on the course, they may sponsor it for the tournament, and such donations will not only aid the production of the event, but also allow a generous charitable donation.

AUXILIARY NEWS

A rescheduled date of Aug. 15 is on the calendar for a Pecan Plantation Volunteer Fire Department/Emergency Medical Service Auxiliary fundraiser. Cowtown Gold and Silver will be present to purchase precious metals, and a portion of the day’s business will benefit Pecan’s emergency services.
