Rattlers beat Peaster; softball falls
Tolar baseball jumped out to a quick lead over Peaster and poured it on again late in a 9-3 home win Tuesday.
The Rattlers scored three runs in the first inning, using a two-RBI double from Derian Morphew and a sacrifice groundout from Matt Moody to build a quick lead.
In the fifth inning, Tolar put up six runs to put the game out of reach. Five of those came with no outs, as Moody doubled to score two runners and Mason Behrens and Morphew each had RBI singles.
Morphew pitched 5.0 innings for the Rattlers, allowing no earned runs and four hits while striking out 11 and walking six. He was pulled in the top of the sixth after Peaster scored three unearned runs, and Wesley Miller came in to finish out the final two innings of relief. Miller struck out six and walked one while giving up no hits.
The Rattlers improved to 2-5 in District 7-3A following the win. They hosted Millsap Friday, and will welcome in Brock for a 7 p.m. game Tuesday.
The Lady Rattlers fell to Peaster 12-2, and sank to 1-8 in District 7-3A this season. The Tolar girls traveled to Millsap Friday and will continue their road trip with a game at Brock at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
