Rattlers drop home game
Tolar baseball couldn’t stay with Paradise in a 7-2 home loss Tuesday.
The Rattlers fell behind 1-0 after the first inning and 3-0 after the second. But two runs in the bottom of the third, driven in by Matt Moody and Mason Behrens, brought Tolar back into the game.
Those two runs would be the last the Rattlers scored, however, and Paradise responded with a three-run top of the fourth inning. A costly two-out error – one of five errors in the game for Tolar – led to Paradise’s big inning.
Derian Morphew pitched five innings, striking out eight, allowing four hits and walking four. Only one of the six runs scored against Morphew was earned. Wesley Miller pitched the final two innings and allowed one earned run and two hits while striking out three.
Morphew went 2-3 at the plate. Moody was 1-2 with a walk and an RBI.
The Rattlers were 1-4 in District 7-3A following the loss. They played Boyd on the road Tuesday and will return home to take on Peaster at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
