Van Griffith Kia Invitational

Granbury High School will host 22 other teams for the Van Griffith Kia Invitational Basketball Tournament this weekend.

Both boys and girls teams will play at GHS for the tournament, which starts Thursday and runs until Saturday afternoon.

Along with the Pirate boys, Keller Timbercreek, Weatherford, Everman, Brewer, Saginaw Chisholm Trail, Cleburne and the North Crowley JV will play on the boys’ side.

The girls’ side includes Sweetwater, Sherman, Weatherford, Northwest, Merkel, Tascosa, Godley, Bridgeport, Coronado, Lake Dallas, Brock, Aledo, Burleson Centennial, Fossil Ridge and Stephenville.

Games will take place across Granbury ISD gyms. In addition to the JWSC, teams will compete at the Pirate Gym in GHS and the Gran-bury Middle School gym.

The Pirates will start theit tournament against Saginaw Chisholm Trail at 10 a.m. Thursday at the JWSC. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Cleburne and the North Crowley JV at 7 p.m. Friday in the JWSC, while the loser will play at the same time in the Pirate Gym.

The Lady Pirates begin at 2:30 p.m. against Sweetwater in the JWSC. The winner of that game will play the winner of Sherman and Weatherford at 7 p.m. Thursday in the JWSC.

Championship games for both brackets will take place at the James Wann Sports Center. The girls’ championship is at 3 p.m. Saturday, with the boys’ championship following after.
