Branden Hunt, a recent graduate of the Granbury High School boys basketball team, announced that he will continue his athletic career at Howard Payne University during a signing ceremony. The Yellow Jackets compete in NCAA Division III athletics with the American Southwest Conference. A Pirate standout for his senior year, Hunt was named second team All-District for the 2020 season. Calling all “want to be bakers” as Cupcake Camp comes to Pecan Plantation next Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the Pecan Activities Center (PAC) from 10 to 11 a.m. with instructors Donna Bullis and Li Cross leading the event.

The Lake Granbury Kiwanis Firecracker 5K Saturday drew a slew of runners. The race finished with 131 competitors. Overall winner was Clayton Smith, 18, of Cresson, who ran a 17:17. Female winner was Gina Mordica, 50, of Granbury, with a time of 20:37. Full results are on the Race Day Event Services website.
May 29 was to be graduation night, but COVID-19 has pushed the ceremony to Friday, June 26 at 8 p.m. on Tolar football field.

Granbury senior basketball player Jayla Hall announced that she will continue her playing career at Ranger College during a signing ceremony Friday at the Granbury ISD administration building.

Five Granbury High School student athletes announced college plans during staggered signing ceremonies on Tuesday.
Three Granbury Pirates were named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Academic All-State 5A team. They are Michael Withey, Ezekiel Sedgwick and Gage Molinari.
The Granbury Pirates will play five home and five away games this fall. The Pirates kick off against Paschal Aug. 28 in Pirate Stadium followed by a trip to Waco to play Waco University.
Granbury’s Macie Blohowiak received soccer’s Most Valuable Player goal-keeping award in District 5-5A.
