National Travel Tourism Week, May 19-25, highlights travel’s essential impact on Granbury’s economy and countless communities across the country.
Visit Granbury will celebrate ‘The Impact of Tourism’ by hosting the 3rd Annual Friends of Tourism Celebration Brunch. The event will be held at the Lake Granbury Conference Center Wednesday, May 22, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. It is free but requires an RSVP, as seating will be limited to 250 people. “The travel industry drives the tourism economy, Granbury’s number one industry,” according to Visit Granbury’s site.
The celebration will feature special guest speakers: Nate Gieryn, deputy director, Travel Texas, Office of the Governor — State of Texas, will discuss the importance of the tourism economy. Gieryn will also highlight the many state designations Granbury has received through the governor’s office, including The Capital of Texas, A Music Friendly Community, A Film Friendly Community and soon-to-be An Official Tourism Friendly Designated City.
“Mayor Pro Tem Steven Vale will read the official proclamation and recognize NTTW and the impact of travel tourism to Granbury and Hood County … celebrating and creating awareness of the special occasion,” said Tammy Dooley, director, City of Granbury Convention & Visitors Bureau, who will also be recognized for her contributions.
