Two new events offer opportunities to collect art in the first weeks of November. The Lake Granbury Art Association presents the Spurlock Stewart Exhibition opening Nov. 1 at the Shanley House Gallery and the members of the Lake Granbury Art Association will show and sell their work at the Granbury Square Pavilion Sat. Nov. 9 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Spurlock/Stewart Exhibition will feature the work of James R. Spurlock and his students and the work of recently deceased James Stewart and his students. These two long-time members of the Art Association have taught for many years.
Spurlock has taught multiple local artists, some of whom have reached professional status. Spurlock is a master artist working in 13 mediums, and his work is collected internationally. Spurlock’s work can also be seen Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Coates Western Art Exhibition and Sale at the Lake Granbury Conference Center.
LGAA will also honor the life and work of James Stewart with the last show and sale of his legacy of western art. His dedicated students will also participate in the art exhibition.
The Spurlock/Stewart Exhibition runs from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31; the work will be the feature of November’s Gallery night and will be on display during the Tour of Homes.
Art in the Granbury Square Pavilion is a new monthly event. LGAA artist work of all styles and mediums will be represented. Artists will be on hand to answer any questions about their subject matter, inspiration and media.
LGAA’s Shanley Gallery is located at 224 N. Travis St.; the address for the Granbury Square Pavilion is 201 E. Pearl St.
