The Granbury Independent School District board of trustees could soon be operating on new term lengths, following a proposed policy revision brought forth by Place 6 Trustee Barbara Townsend.

Last Tuesday, the leaders of Hood County gathered together in the David Southern Lake Granbury Conference Center for their quarterly Leaders in Government luncheon. Courtney Morawski, who was recently selected as the new superintendent for Granbury Independent School District, was the keynote speaker. She surveyed community leaders in attendance for the best ways to improve the practices of the district under her new administration.

Granbury’s own beloved therapy dog, Bedford the labradoodle, was a contestant in this year’s fourth annual Pet Partner’s Pet of the Year competition. While Bedford did not place in the PPPOTY this year, he won the 2025 Mission Moment Spotlight Award, which helped to achieve his handler Kay Dykes dreams of getting Hood County residents educated and excited about therapy animals.

Just about everyone can agree that nothing is more American than lemonade or capitalism. On May 17, hundreds of local children will flock to the curb loaded down with lemons, sugar, and water to demonstrate this idea and usher in Hood County’s third annual Lemonade Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., make it your goal to stuff your bladders and the pockets of local fifth graders by hitting the streets and supporting as many of the young entrepreneurs stands as possible.

In 2025, there have been more than 607 reported cases of measles in the United States, with more than 480 of these cases occurring in Texas alone.
