This fall, senior Lillie Davis will be well on her way to a college degree before she “graduates” from Granbury High School.

Davis is the first graduate of the 2021-22 school year after completing her course work and all state requirements due to Granbury ISD’s Self-Motivated Teens Achieving Responsibility and Success (STARS) Accelerated High School.

In an informal ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 17, Davis crossed the graduation stage to receive her high school diploma.

According to Principal Margaret Rodriquez, Lillie Davis is the first 2021-22 school year graduate.  She will be among those invited to participate in fall graduation exercises to be held this December.

Davis will start her college education on Aug. 19 at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, where she plans to study education and theater.

STARS, an alternative academic high school that is part of the Granbury ISD, provides an optional setting with flexibility and personalized, self-paced courses for high school students whose needs are not met in traditional schools.

More than 1,000 local students have graduated from STARS since its founding in 1994.
