Early voting for runoff starts Monday

Posted

Early voting will start Monday for the runoff election between Steven Vale and Cathy Reidy to determine the winner of the Place 5 seat on the Granbury City Council.

Election Day will be Tuesday, July 27th.

The winner will replace Tony Mobly, who relinquished the seat to run for mayor after longtime mayor Nin Hulett resigned with more than a year left in his term.

Jim Jarratt won that race without a runoff in a special election held on June 29. He was sworn in during Tuesday night’s regular City Council meeting.

Vale and Reidy won the most votes in the three-person race for Place 5, but neither received the required 50% of the vote, plus one to avoid a runoff.

The winner of the runoff will have to run again in the November election cycle to serve a full three-year term.

Early voting will run from July 12-July 23. Dates and times will be as follows: Monday-Friday (July 12-16), 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday, July 19, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, July 20, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday, July 21, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, July 22, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday, July 23, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Early voting and Election Day voting will take place at County Annex 1, 1410 W. Pearl St.
