Final chapter

The temporary, scaled-down version of the Hood County Library is now closed and the move back to the main library building has officially begun.

The undertaking, which also involves transporting books and materials stored at the county’s Acton Annex, began Monday.

It marks the end of a construction project that added 10,000 square feet and a second story to the back of the library at 222 N. Travis St.

The library is scheduled to reopen to the public on Wednesday, May 1.

A scaled-down version has operated for months out of American Town Hall next door so that the public could continue to be served while construction was under way.

Library Director Karen Rasco said that the book drop on the north side of the main building is now available for use for those who need to return books.

Digital resources, including e-books, audiobooks, music and movies, are available for patrons with library cards to stream and download from the Hood County Library website.

Rasco stated that anyone who needs an appointment with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide can call 817-550-7233.

The AARP is set up for Tax-Aide at First Christian Church, 2109 W. Hwy. 377, she said.
