Three Granbury ISD campuses started the new school year with new assistant principals.
One school, Acton Elementary, has two assistant principals.
The Board of Trustees named Mallory Myers and Angie Payne to those positions.
Myers comes to AES with 10 years’ experience in education. She is moving from Brawner Elementary where she served one year as the instructional specialist and one year teaching second grade.
She and her husband Rusty have been married 11 years and have three children.
Payne served AES families for one year as intervention program specialist. Prior to that, she taught science to fifth graders.
Payne earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University at Commerce and a master’s degree from Lamar University.
Her husband, Ryan, is a police officer. They have two sons, Ryder and Rhett.
Nathan Daniels has been named assistant principal at Oak Woods School.
Daniels moved from the STEAM Academy at Mambrino. He has been an intervention program specialist, an instructional specialist and a middle school English and ESL teacher. He also has experience in nonprofit educational programs.
Daniels earned a bachelor’s degree in social science and a master’s degree in ESL, both from the University of North Texas. He also completed the post-graduate principal certification program at that university.
In addition to Mambrino, Daniels also taught at Acton Middle School.
He lives with his family — wife Sarah and three children — on a small farm in Acton. He enjoys participating in outdoor activities with them and also likes reading, running, and cycling.
Jessica Johnson has been named assistant principal at STEAM Academy at Mambrino.
She previously served as instructional specialist for STEAM Academy.
This year marks her 24th year in education and her third year with the district.
Johnson’s leadership experience in education includes classroom teacher, math coach, assistant principal, and principal.
She and her husband of 17 years, Patrick, live in Granbury with daughters Kynnedy and Peyton.
