The Granbury tennis team is headed to the playoffs after a 12-7 victory Tuesday at Brewer lifted them into the final playoff berth, where GHS will take on Colleyville Heritage.

A couple of weeks ago, coach Connor Mason said that the Brewer match would most likely be the determining factor for Granbury advancing to the postseason. With Brewer beating Azle, Mason's prediction hit home, and GHS was in a win-or-go-home situation in its final match

"It came down to needing a win, and we needed to win by as many points as possible," Mason said.

Those magic numbers were provided by the Lady Pirates, who won 8-of-9 matches to secure help secure the win. Jaden Stover and Gavin Logsdon had a big success in the double's competition, and Stover followed that up with a singles victory to help push Granbury over the hump.

"The kids knew the task at hand and went out there with their game faces on and were ready for it," Mason said. "It was a huge win for us."

Mason was busy coordinating the details for Granbury's playoff match that will held at Colleyville High School at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

"These kids have worked their tails off all year. I told them after we lost to Azle that one loss does not define our season and there was a lot of tennis left to play. We knew no matter what happened the road was going to go through Brewer if we wanted to make the playoffs," Mason said.
