Hospital facelift

Posted

Renovations on the first floor of Lake Granbury Medical Center will include an office for a second medical/ surgical director and a new location for the chapel.

The HCN reported last week on the growing hospital’s expansion of its Blue Stone Cafe.

The cafe’s expansion will include the Blue Stone Coffee Shop and sandwich selections for those who don’t want to wait in line for hot food.

As design work for first floor medical and surgical support progressed, new space was identified for the chapel, which was displaced due to the cafe expansion, according to CEO David Orcutt.

The chapel’s new location is on the main corridor, just beyond the sanctuary’s original location.

Due to growth of inpatient volume, LGMC is renovating areas for nutrition, medication and storage, in addition to the office space for the new “med/surg” director.

The hospital has had one “med/surg” director in charge of both the first and third floors but will now have one director for each of those floors.

All three renovation projects are anticipated to be completed in about a month.

The 73-bed facility has a 4-star CMS designation, which refers to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

“The ranking places LGMC in the top 25 percent of hospitals nationwide based on achieving evidence-based quality measures for improved hospital outcomes,” Orcutt said.

He stated that LGMC is striving for a 5-star CMS rating this year.
