Doris Varnell, 93, of Mineral Wells, Texas went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2020. She passed away at her home in Granbury, Texas surrounded by family who loved her dearly.
The Memorial Service is at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Mineral Wells, Texas.
Doris was born to Arthur and Willie Avara in Peacock, Texas on February 13, 1927. She had one sister, Billie Jackson of Lamesa, and one brother John Avara of Denver City. In addition to her parents, her sister preceded Doris in death.
Doris loved her family deeply and is survived by her daughter, Sandy Copeland and her husband Clyde of The Woodlands, Texas; and her son, Tony Varnell and his wife Karen of Granbury, Texas. Her husband, Jake Varnell of Mineral Wells, Texas, and her son, Phil Varnell of Collins, Mississippi who was married to Ercell, preceded her in death. Doris had eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren, with one more on the way; two great, great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Donations to the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church can be made in Doris’s honor. Cards of Condolence for the family may be left at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
