Jerry Thornburg, age 72 of Tolar, Texas went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday June 5, 2019. He was a resident of Hood County for 37 years. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday June 8, 2019, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury; Interment: Stroud Creek Cemetery, Tolar; Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday June 7, 2019, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel.
Jerry was born in Henrietta, Texas on September 8, 1946 to John and Elberta (Jared) Thornburg. He was number seven of eight children. Jerry was a family man and he loved his grandchildren. Jerry enjoyed to drag race. He liked old cars, motorcycles and chuckwagons. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Stanley Thornburg, Patsy Bruton, Barbara Worthington and Bonnie Frasier.
Jerry is survived by his wife: Sherry Thornburg; children: Jerry Carl Hawkins and wife Jennifer; Marie Finger and husband Jimmy, Cheri Rena Reynolds and husband Michael, Jennifer Smitherman, Laura Montell and husband David, Cody Thornburg; 13 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren; brothers: Johnny Thornburg and wife Sheila, Tom Thornburg and wife Mildred, Troy Thornburg and wife Tammy; and a host of loving family and friends.
