Ruby Laverne Cardwell

Ruby Laverne Cardwell, 86, of Tolar went to be with our Lord on June 7, 2020 in Granbury.

Laverne was born on September 19, 1933 in Erath County to the late George Harold and Leah Damaris Leatherwood Parks.

She married J.R. Cardwell on November 20, 1952. Laverne and J.R. enjoyed raising their three children: James Victor, Larry Don and Jana Lynn in Tolar. Laverne was a Christian woman who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved entertaining, especially church and family gatherings. She also loved the game of basketball, as a player, as well as, watching her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She became a fan of the Dallas Mavericks.

Laverne is survived by her husband, J.R.; children, Larry Don (Kathi) Cardwell of Tolar, Jana (Mike) Franklin of Granbury, and daughter-in-law Brenda Cardwell of Palo Pinto. She is also survived by her many grandchildren; Candance (Brian) Clinkscale of Granbury, Justin (Ashley) Cardwell of Wichita Falls, Kerri (Seth) Ralphs of Burlington, Iowa, Amber (Justin) Root of Granbury, Ellise (Gary) Akers of Godley, Cody Cardwell of Granbury, Chris (Annemarie) Caraway of Denton, Clifton Caraway of Denton, Leah (Jace) Walker of Brock and Lauren Franklin of Granbury, as well as, 13 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister; Helen Hampton of Stephenville, brother; Jack Parks of Stephenville; sisters-in-law, Merle Jo Parks of Stephenville and Lynette Parks of Lingleville; and brother-in-law Elmer Lott of Burleson.

Laverne was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest son; James Victor Cardwell, her brother; James Mac Parks, sister; Christine Ferguson, and sisters-in-law; Norma Parks and Sandra Lott, brothers-in-law; Johnny Hampton and Billie Ferguson and also her greatgrandson; Cai Daniel Cardwell.

Visitation will be at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Tuesday, June 9, from 6 - 7 P.M.

Graveside Services will be held in Lingleville, Texas at the East End Cemetery at 10 A. M. on Wednesday, June 10.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Foster's Home for Children, Stephenville, Texas.
