Lasting memorials created for Lipan High School’s lasting accomplishments

LIPAN SCHOOLS

Sarah Marcantonio is a sophomore at Lipan High School who hopes to attend college on a journalism scholarship and pursue a career in writing. She participates in softball, yearbook and student council.

We at Lipan strive to memorialize our hard work and success. Indeed, there are several ways to remember our triumphs, whether that be through newspaper articles, actual footage, or a friend telling a friend. However, for numerous years, The Sterling Monument Company of Granbury has provided LHS with lifelong tributes to capture our accomplishments.

The company has made all eight of the basketball state championship monuments that stand outside of the Lipan Gym. In fact, the company has graciously donated the monuments since the Harris family took over the Granbury business back in 2015. Curtis and Jenna Harris have supervised the construction of the Girls’ 2021 State Championship monument as well as this year’s additions to the yard.

When asked what led them to donate all these years, the owners replied with honor, “We are just proud to be from Lipan,” Curtis Harris said, “and we’re really proud to support all of athletics, but especially the great achievements of this year’s boys and girls basketball teams.”
