Granbury High School kicked off its homecoming Friday, Oct. 25, with a morning pep rally, where Luis Ramirez-Ortiz was crowned homecoming king. That evening, the DECA team introduced the new “Pirate Cove” tradition, offering barbecue cooked up by the GHS BBQ team and community vendor games before the Pirates faced the Azle Hornets. The Pride of Granbury marching band opened the game, but the Pirates fell to the Hornets in a 14-28 loss. During halftime, the Stowaways performed, and the family of Johnny Perkins, namesake of the GHS football field, was honored before Karmyn Williams was crowned 2024 homecoming queen.
