Barbara Merryman Clark 1935 - 2025

Barbara Merryman Clark, 89, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Granbury, Texas, passed away on Thursday morning, March 6, 2025, in Arlington.

Visitation for Barbara will be held from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2025, at Wiley Funeral Home, 400 E. U.S. Highway 377, in Granbury. Funeral services celebrating Barbara’s life will be held at 1 p.m., on Monday, March 10, at Acton Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Acton Cemetery.

Barbara was born in Formosa, Arkansas, on July 29, 1935 to the late Lonie Omer and Alice Merryman. She married John Ralph Clark in 1966. Barbara was a long-time member of Acton Baptist Church and a dietitian by profession. She served as the president of the Texas School Food Service Association in 1991-1992 and as the food services director of Arlington ISD for 20 years, where she was responsible for implementing the free school lunch program. Barbara was a “woman of service,” selflessly and generously devoted to helping others. She will be remembered as a “very thoughtful woman” who was kind in all aspects of her life and her family’s. Barbara was active in Habitat for Humanity and enjoyed living in Pecan Plantation for 25 years. Additionally, she enjoyed golfing and traveling to many places in the United States and Canada, as well as Jordan and Israel. She loved everyone she met, particularly babies. Most of all, Barbara will be remembered for the loving care she gave to her beloved family.

Barbara is survived by her children, Teresa and husband Gary Baevich, Barry and wife Kathy Clark, Jason and wife Graciela Clark, and Alison Lewis; and her grandchildren, Alyssa, Lauren, Josh, Brittney, Christian, and Ocean.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John Ralph Clark; her grandson, Zachary Clark; and by her brothers, Jerry and FM Merryman.
