Benefit dinner, auctions planned for El Tesoro grief camp

Posted

Most Hood County residents may know Camp Fire’s Camp El Tesoro for its summer camps and Breakfast with Santa events. But this year will mark El Tesoro’s 35th year offering a week-long grief camp for children who have experienced the death of a loved one.

To support the Granbury-based camp’s efforts to help grieving children heal, a dinner with a silent auction and a live auction will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25.

The event will take place at The Round Up Inn at Will Rogers Memorial Center, located at 3401 West Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth.

Auction packages include HoneyTree treehouse getaways in Fredericksburg; a cabin at Lake Graham; a guided fishing trip on Lake Texoma; a bao cooking class for 1; a Lone Star Park excursion; a private wine class; a Little Firefighter Birthday Party; and a “Create Your Own Adventure” opportunity from Southwest Airlines.

The event directly supports the 35th annual weeklong grief camp where grieving kids can cry, play, laugh, and heal together.

Reservations for the dinner can be made online at campfirefw.org/camp-el-tesoro/. Click on “Events,” then click on “El Tesoro de la Vida Benefit Dinner.”

Table sponsorships are available at a range of prices. Individual tickets are free but the organization asks for a donation to the camp’s scholarship fund.

Online bidding is underway on the auction items.
