An 82nd Airborne paratrooper and Golden Gloves boxer, Billy Ray Shannon, 86, was a fighter until the end. He was greeted in Heaven June 16, 2025, by his parents, Minnie and Glen, and sisters, Glenda, Johnnie Carol and Betty.
Born in Fort Worth Dec. 6, 1938, he was a graduate of Polytechnic High School and 40-year veteran of the railroad industry.
Billy Ray married Georgia Noll Feb. 15, 1969, and described the following years as a father and grandfather as “the highlight of my life.”
He is survived by his wife, Georgia, son Troy (Jennifer), daughter Traci Cassas (Kyle), daughter Trana Pittam, six grandchildren and special cat – Harvey.
